The editorial is inspired by the template documents used to capture the perfect biometric passport photo — showing the right proportions, the ideal background, the expected facial expression. No mistakes or imperfections are allowed; every single image must meet the required standards, which strip away — or even erase — the individual traits and imperfections of the person being photographed.
Since fashion thrives on alteration, mistake and imperfection — qualities that often give rise to new designs and new trends — we wanted to explore the tension between perfect/right and wrong/different, between conformity and nonconformity.
